TOP officials of the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC) are coming to the province on September 22 for the mass oath-taking of its local members at L' Fisher Hotel.
Sixth district Representative Mercedes Alvarez confirmed that NPC chairman emeritus former Ambassador Eduardo “Danding” Cojuangco Jr. is coming along with national chair Governor Faustino Dy, secretary general Representative Mark Leandro Mendoza and president Frisco San Juan.
Hundreds are expected to join the mass oath-taking with the NPC.
Alvarez said that, in her district alone, about 50 will join the party. This number includes all incumbent officials from four the municipalities and two cities in the district, she added.
Alvarez also confirmed that, like in the national level, the NPC and the Liberal Party of the administration are also having talks on possible coalition in the province.
It was confirmed earlier by NPC provincial chair Kabankalan City Mayor Isidro Zayco that LP regional chairman Representative Albee Benitez (3rd district, Negros Occidental) and Vice Governor Genaro Alvarez have already talked about fielding candidates in every town and city in the entire province.
Except for EB Magalona Mayor David Albert Lacson, all mayors in the third district will reportedly go for Alvarez.
Meanwhile, in the camp of Governor Alfredo Marañon, a Sun.Star-Bacolod source said that Board Member Jose Benito Alonzo is being invited to be the governor's running mate. However, Alonzo has reportedly not yet accepted such offer.
The same source also revealed that first district Board Member Nehemias dela Cruz is going to battle it out against first district Representative Jules Ledesma in the district. (TDE)
