THE businessman who was shot in Silay last Saturday died while being treated at the Riverside Medical Center.
Silay Police Chief Rosauro Francisco said Monday that at about 5 p.m Sunday, they received a report from one of the funeral homes in Bacolod City that Charles Balbon Sr., 64, a former member of the defunct Philippine Constabulary Criminal Investigation Service, and resident of Barangay Lantad, Silay City, has already expired.
He said they failed to get the medical report from the said hospital, since the family of the victim didn’t coordinate with them.
Balbon sustained multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of his body after he was shot at about 6 a.m. by a motorcycle riding suspect who immediately fled after the incident.
Police recovered at the crime scene five cartridges of .45 caliber pistol, one live ammunition and one deformed slug.
The attack came just over a month after his son and namesake, 31-year old Charles Balbon, Jr., was fatally shot under similar circumstances last August 2.
Francisco said they are now facing difficulty to identify the suspect since the family of the victim didn’t cooperate with the PNP.
He also believed that the family of the victim has an idea on the possible person who killed the victim.
Francisco said he already directed the case investigator to conduct further investigation in said incident and to coordinate with the family of the victim.
He said they have witnesses who were in the area during the incident but he stressed that they need the cooperation of the victim’s family.
The witnesses claimed that the suspect who killed the victim is the same suspect who killed the young Balbon, he added.
