THE Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) still maintained its ranking as number one in the campaign against illegal drugs in the Western Visayas region for the period January to August 31, 2012.
Ricardo De la Paz, BCPO director, said that for the period, BCPO arrested 113 persons for drug-related offenses in the city. He said out of 113 drug suspects, 50 of them are drug pushers and 63 are drug users.
Records from Police Regional Office showed that BCPO ranked as number one, followed by Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) with 56 persons arrested, and Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Noppo) with 50 persons arrested, 41 of whom are drug pushers.
BCPO has a total of 51 buy-bust operations, ICPO has 42 and Noppo has 35 buy-bust operations, the records showed.
De la Paz said BCPO is consistent in the campaign against illegal drugs in the city.
"We intend to intensify our campaign against illegal drug in Bacolod, especially this coming MassKara Festival celebration," he vowed.
He said they already anticipate that, before the festival, there will be drug shipments to the city because of the projected increase in demand for illegal drugs.
He added that they will also coordinate with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (Pdea) to monitor the entry points and drugs personalities who operates here in Bacolod. (MAP)
