PATRONS of wholesome, fun and endearing entertainment are in for a treat as the musical "Children's Letters to God" opens Friday at the La Proa Ballroom, L'Fisher Hotel.
Museo sang Bata sa Negros and Little Boy Productions present "Children's Letters to God," a musical show for children of all ages.
The musical is based on Stuart Hample's best-selling book of the same name. It is inspired by the real letters of young people writing to God.
The original play was staged in New York in 2007 and has since been staged in many countries across the world in many different languages.
Prior to this staging in Bacolod, the show has been staged in Manila, Cebu and Dumaguete.
The show originally features a cast of five young actors ranging in age from 10 to 15 years old, but Director Bart Guingona has found that the show also works on a different level when performed by a cast of young adults.
The cast members themselves handle their roles well, despite the initial struggle to play younger characters. "It's hard to play 9 when you're 26," said cast member Nicco Manalo. "All you can do is go back to that innocent part of you."
When asked about their time on the stage, the performers say that it is all fun "just like recess."
Show times for "Children's Letters to God" the musical in Bacolod are set at 2:00 pm, 4:00 pm, and 7:00 pm. Tickets are available at 21 Restaurant or call (034) 457-8003, 0917-300-0181, 0917-300-3815. (Jamie F. Bentinganan)
