COUNCILOR Em Ang urged Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson to adopt the Philippine Councilors Creed either by reading or recitation during the opening of every session in the City Council of Bacolod City.
Councilor Catalino Alisbo said the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) obtained its official status as a local government association when it was accredited by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) on September 3, 1991 and subsequently registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission on September 17, 1990.
On January 16, 1992, the DILG issued Memorandum Circular 92-03 mandating the existence of the PCL.
It said the PCL continued to evolve as a dynamic and vibrant organization of local legislators, formulated in the Philippine Councilors Creed in order to remind the PCL members of their obligation and to help improve the quality of life of the Filipino people through effective local legislation.
The City Council also approved a resolution declaring the observance of October 10 as the World Mental Health Day and the month of October as mental Health Month. (Carla N. Canet)
