FOUR policemen of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) have posted their bail when they learned that they have arrest warrants for arbitrary detention charges Friday and Thursday.
BCPO spokesperson Police Superintendent Santiago Rapiz Friday said Police Senior Inspector Jeffrey Attunaga, a former chief of Station 2; Police Officer 2 Ronilo Molato and Clint Ferrer; and Glen Montanio, former personnel of Station 2, posted P6,000 bail each Thursday.
The police officers faced an arrest warrant for arbitrary detention charges issued by Judge Remegio Rojo of the Municipal Trial Court in Cities (MTCC) Branch 6, Bacolod City.
The charges were filed when Attunaga and three others, who were accused, were assigned at Station 2.
Rapiz added that the charges were filed by a certain Juan Bais, an employee of one of fast crafts in Reclamation Area, Bacolod City in 2010 when the said police officers arrested him at Bredco Port, Reclamation Area for grave threat based on the complaint of Montanio.
Rapiz explained that, as member of the Philippine National Police (PNP), it is normal in their job to face such charges because they are only performing their job.
Attunaga is presently assigned as the new head of BCPO Operations Branch in replacement of Police Senior Inspector Lester Leada. Rapiz said his arrest warrant will not affect his present assignment. (Merlinda A. Pedrosa)
