IS IT going to be Marañon-Ferrer versus Alvarez-Lacson for governor and vice governor in the province in the 2013 elections?
The tandem of Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. and La Carlota City mayor Juliet Marie Ferrer for the top two posts in the province was reportedly affirmed in a Friday meeting at Nature's Village Restaurant, Talisay City.
This after Marañon said Friday that a luncheon meeting in the said venue is slated today, Saturday, among the members of the United Negros Alliance (UNA).
However, Marañon refused to divulge who are attending in the luncheon meeting.
The possibility of a Marañon-Ferrer tandem was bolstered after the two led the turn-over Friday of about P18.8 million worth of farm equipment to various farmers associations at the Negros Occidental Multi-Purpose Activity Center.
In her speech, Ferrer said that she was glad to be with the farmers and that she hopes to be with them more often in the coming days for distribution of more projects.
When asked if it's finally Ferrer as his running mate for 2013, Marañon replied, "It's the body language that speaks for it. This is it."
Both Marañon and Ferrer said that they may file their certificates of candidacy (COC) between October 1 to 5.
Marañon said that the proper time will come when everybody will know the final political developments in the province.
The tandem of Vice Governor Genaro Alvarez and Eugenio Lacson was launched by the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC) last Saturday, September 22. (Teresa D. Ellera)
