VICE Governor Genaro Alvarez is set to file his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) today, Monday, while Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. will file his COC on October 3, Wednesday.
Marañon, who is sticking with the United Negros Alliance (UNA), and Alvarez, who is the candidate of the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC), are running against each other for the top post in the province in the 2013 elections on what is seen as a 'battle royale'.
Alvarez said that he prefers to be an early bird at 8 a.m. at the Comelec office today so if there are some hitches on his COC, there will still be time to comply everything.
With Alvarez to also file their COC today are his running mate, former Mayor Eugenio Lacson of San Carlos City, and those who will run for board members in the province.
Marañon meanwhile said that he chooses to file his COC on October 3 at 3 p.m., as he believes that it is the lucky time and date for him.
"We will have an overwhelming votes based on Fung Shui with this date and time," Marañon said.
Marañon refused to confirm reports that La Carlota City Mayor Juliet Marie Ferrer had already accepted the offer to be his running mate.
