16th MassKara Village opens

THE ABS-CBN 16th MassKara Village officially opened Monday at the Robinsons Place-Bacolod.
The opening was led by Bacolod City Councilor Sonia Vedeflor together with MassKara Festival director Eli Tajanlangit, Tourism Officer Imogene Cana-an, Robinsons Marketing Officer Christine Tomas, Mall Manager Joseph Sian, and ABS-CBN news chief Harold Limbo.
Vice-Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson and Councilor Al Victor Espino also arrived after the cutting of ribbon.
Romeo Subaldo, project coordinator, disclosed that in the 16th ABS-CBN Mask-Making competition, about 58 entries are vying for the top prize.
Judges will choose the top 20 entries which will join the parade on October 19 inside the mall and the judges will choose the top 3.
In this year’s edition of the competition, the stand, base, or mannequin is included in the overall judging of entries. Moreover, the masks should be wearable.
He added that the mask-making competition is open to all Negrenses, citing that most of the artists who joined the competition are not from Bacolod City.
Judging will be based on originality (25 percent), creativity (25 percent), wearability (15 percent), durability (15 percent), ingenuity (10 percent), and overall presentation (10 percent).
Subaldo said the first place winner will receive P25,000, second place P15,000 and P10,000 for third place. He said they will also give consolation prizes for those who reached the top 20.
All the 58 entries will be displayed at the mall from October 1 to 21, 2012.
The mask-making competition is a way of the ABS-CBN news team to participate in MassKara Festival celebration. ABS-CBN is also very thankful for the support of Robinsons Place in this year’s activity. (Merlinda A. Pedrosa)
