Start of MassKara Festival peaceful

THE first day of MassKara Festival celebration was peaceful and no untoward incidents were reported, Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Director Ricardo De la Paz said Tuesday.
De la Paz said several policemen were deployed in different areas of Bacolod, especially at the Bacolod Public Plaza, to secure the peace and order in the area.
He said it was observed that numerous MassKara revealers joined the opening of the festival at the Bacolod Public Plaza; no stabbing and shooting incidents were reported during the celebration.
He added the BCPO also implemented the city wide gun ban to ensure that there would be no firearms-related incident and casualty on this year's celebration.
The city director added that all the station commanders were directed to intensify their visibility patrol within their areas of responsibility and to conduct check point operations, Oplan Sita, and police integrated patrol system (Pips).
De la Paz said everyday they will make an assessment on the MassKara Festival celebration to monitor the peace and order in different areas of Bacolod so that they could make some adjustments on the critical areas. (Merlinda A. Pedrosa)
