It's Barredo vs Ferrer at 4th district

FORMER Board Member Ike Barredo challenges re-electionist Representative Jeffrey Ferrer of the fourth district of Negros Occidental.
Barredo filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) around 4 p.m. Thursday at the Comelec provincial office. He is running under the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC).
Incumbent Representative Jeffrey Ferrer, who is set to file his COC today, Friday, said the NPC already gave him his certificate of nomination.
He said he welcomes the candidacy of Barredo, adding: "May the best man win."
Barredo's candidacy came after rumors circulated that Ferrer's wife, La Carlota City Mayor Juliet Marie Ferrer, has already decided not to run for vice governor supposedly in tandem with Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. after the reported meeting between Ferrer's mom Kitchie Benidicto and NPC chairman emeritus former ambassador Eduardo Cojuangco Jr. in Manila.
Barredo is also reportedly dropping the name of Cojuangco as the one who gave him the blessings for running against Congressman Ferrer.
Ferrer, however, would not comment on the said reports. (TDE)
