A MAN was shot dead by an unidentified suspect at the tricycle terminal in Barangay Alangilan, Bacolod City, Sunday evening.

Station 5 commander Police Senior Inspector Richie Gohee identified the victim as Benjie Valenzuela, 28, of Hope Village, Barangay Kabatangan, Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

Gohee said the victim sustained a gunshot wound in the upper left portion of his chest. The shooting incident occurred around 10:30 p.m.

The police officer said Valenzuela was immediately rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital but he was declared dead on arrival by his attending physician.

Bacolod City Police Office spokesperson Santiago Rapiz said Police Director Ricardo De la Paz had directed the Station 5 commander to conduct further investigation on the incident.

Rapiz said they have identified the suspect, but they are still convincing him to surrender through the help of Barangay Granada chieftain Alfredo Talimodao.
