Vice mayor urges Public Works office to repair Sum-ag Road

VICE Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson asked the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on Monday to hasten the repair of the Sum-ag Road in Bacolod City.
He said the Sum-ag Road is a national road and falls under the jurisdiction of the National Government.
Sayson said he called up DPWH on Monday and he was told that the project was already turned over to a contractor from China last July 29. He said the DPWH officials also told him that since it is now under the contractor, they could not repair it anymore.
But Sayson said that since the project was turned over to the contractor last July, the DPWH could have done something about the pot holes from Pahanocoy up to the boundary of Sum-ag.
He said this is the responsibility of the National Government through the local congressional district, “so they should give this attention.”
Sayson said this is a call to DPWH to implement temporary repairs until such time that the contractor could start the construction.
Residents and other passersby are complaining and consider the Sum-ag road an "abortion road" because of its many pot holes. The Bacolod City Council had passed a resolution relative to the repair of the Sum-ag road. (CNC)
