MAYORALTY candidate Julius Sayson faces disqualification case filed by his relative also mayoralty candidate Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson before the Commission on Election (Comelec) in Manila.
Lawyer Crystal Vega, vice mayor's legal counsel, said she personally filed the case with the intent to declare Julius as a nuisance candidate.
Vega cited some grounds that disqualify Julius in running for the 2013 elections.
Vega said the surname and the first two letters “J-U” of Jude (petitioner), is the same with that of Julius (respondent).
The Comelec-Bacolod records showed by election officer lawyer Mavil Majarucon-Sia, states that Julius Sayson did not run for any public office during the local and national May 14, 2007 election, barangay election on October 29, 2007, nor on May 12, 2010 national election.
Mr. Edwin Sayson, Julius’s father, executed an affidavit that his son is a self-employed person, a fruit vendor, and does not own a house, lives with him, does not own any real property that could show financial stability, no business permit, and has not filed his income tax return.
It was alleged that Julius has no intention to run for public office for he has no financial resources nor political machinery and no political supporters to help him in his campaign, has no political line up. (Carla N. Canet)
