THE League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP) will conduct its 50th National Executive Board Meeting in Bacolod City on October 19 to 21 at the L'Fisher Hotel.

Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia said the mayors will start coming in on October 19. On the first night, they will be hosted at the Bacolod City Government Center and will be brought later to the Electric MassKara at the Tourism Strip in Lacson Street.

He said the meeting proper will be on October 21 and the speakers, among others, are Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas and Budget and Management Secretary Florencio Abad.

Leonardia said their latest information is that United States Ambassador Harry Thomas Jr. may not be able to make it.

"I do not think they would want the US ambassador displayed at a time like this after the US Embassies have been guarded very tightly," he said.

Among the mayors who signified to come are Puerto Princesa City Mayor Edward Hagedorn, LCP national president San Fernando Mayor Oscar Rodrigues and LCP secretary general Alaminos Mayor Hernani Braganza, he said.

Leonardia said they are expecting 30 to 40 mayors to attend the meeting.

The mayors will hold dialogs with representatives of the Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-Ibig) and Canadian International Development Agency, among others. (CNC)
