Communication lines cut off between guv, vice guv

FOR obvious reasons, the communication lines between Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. and Vice Governor Genaro Alvarez are now temporarily cut off.
Marañon, who belongs to the United Negros Alliance and Alvarez (UNA) that is under the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC), is fighting it out in a one-on-one battle royale for the top post in the province in the 2013 elections.
"We are no longer communicating with each other, even by text or by call. But it's only temporary, as we remain friends. As I said, this will be a friendly fight between us," Marañon said on Thursday.
He also said that he will not bring in his campaign the case of slain Kabankalan Regional Trial Court Judge Henry Arles against his opponent, as he will focus only on his 11 -point agenda that includes tourism, health, education, poverty alleviation and food security.
Alvarez and his son, Mayor John Paul Alvarez of Ilog, were implicated in the murder of Arles by alleged witnesses. But Alvarez is expecting the dismissal of the case against them, as he believes it has no basis at all.
Marañon said he will make sure of a high level campaign for the 2013 elections.
Marañon also wished Alvarez good health for his birthday on Saturday. (TDE)
