THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Manila set the hearing on the petition filed by mayoralty candidate Bacolod Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson against his namesake Julius Sayson, also a mayoralty bet, to declare him as a nuisance candidate.
Lawyer Crystal Vega, legal counsel of Vice Mayor Sayson said, "I received an official text message from Comelec regarding the conduct of hearing on the petition we filed. But I cannot yet confirm as to the specific date.
The Comelec Bacolod has also received a notice of hearing from Comelec Manila regarding our petition but they will still wait for the final date of it as they still finalizing the set of documents necessary for the hearing."
The hearing will be conducted in Manila and there is a possibility that the two Saysons will be summoned to attend the hearing.
They will be summoned to observe a due process so that both sides will be heard by the commission.
It is up to the camp of Julius Sayson if they will appear before the hearing and give their side or defend their stand.
"But on our part, we are ready to present our evidence necessary to prove our allegation," said Vega.
"If Julius Sayson can bring his lawyer too, that is his right. We believe that we have a strong case to prove that Julius Sayson deserves to be declared as a nuisance candidate," she added.
