A MEMBER of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) was arrested by operatives of Station 1 for violation of the MassKara gun ban after he got involved in a commotion in Bacolod Public Plaza Saturday morning.
BCPO Director Senior Superintendent Ricardo De la Paz identified the suspect as Police Officer 1 Roldan Villa, detailed in Station 4 and assigned at the New Government Center Compac.
De la Paz said Villa, a resident of Barangay 16, Bacolod, was arrested around 4 a.m. after he tried to punch Raymund Bayer of Barangay Banago at the Bacolod Public Plaza.
Police recovered from him one unlicensed .45 caliber pistol with serial number 851993 and one magazine with seven live ammunitions.
Villa was not in Philippine National Police (PNP) uniform when he was arrested and he is presently detained at the lock up cell of Station 1.
De la Paz said four persons were already arrested by BCPO in the strict implementation of the MassKara gun ban.
He said only the members of PNP, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and other law enforcement agencies in agency-prescribed uniforms who are performing official duties will be allowed to carry firearms during the implementation of the gun ban for the duration of the festival.
