A PAWNSHOP in Araneta Street, Barangay 36, Bacolod city was held up by unidentified robber in broad daylight Saturday morning.
Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) spokesperson Superintendent Santiago Rapiz on Sunday said that around 11:15 a.m. Saturday, the M. Lhuillier Pawnshops and Jewelries Store was held up by unidentified suspect who took at least P14,000 cash.
Investigation showed that while Alma Congno, 47, branch manager of the pawnshop and resident of Fiesta Homes, Barangay Sum-ag, Bacolod City, was entertaining one of their customers, an unidentified suspect wearing a ball cap and motorcycle mask approached her and declared hold-up, Rapiz said.
He said the suspect pointed a .38 caliber revolver at Congno and took the P14,000 cash.
Rapiz added the suspect immediately fled using a color red motorcycle without license plate.
Rapiz pointed out that the said business establishment had no CCTV camera and security guard in their area.
He said that in the follow-up operation, they managed to identify the suspect but he refused to divulge his name since the operation is still on-going.
He added the suspect was involved in several robbery hold-up incidents in different areas of Bacolod City and is a regular detainee in Bacolod Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.
Rapiz said City Director Senior Superintendent Ricardo De la Paz also ordered not only Station 1 commander Chief Inspector Adonis Rosales but also the Special Operations Group, Intelligence Branch and Investigation Branch to work for the speedy apprehension of the suspect.
