MAKABAYAN senatorial bet Teddy Casiño calls for efficiency of operations and expenses of the Aquino administration instead of calling for an increase of fees and charges.
“Government should first strive for efficiency, show the taxpayers that their money is put to good use, before calling for additional or increased fees,” said Casiño referring to Administrative Order (AO) 31 issued by Malacañang this month.
The AO 31 dated October 1 directs all heads of departments, bureaus, commissions, and agencies, including government-owned and –controlled corporations (GOCCs) to rationalize their fees and charges, increase their existing rates and impose the new fees and charges authorizes agencies to increase rates for various government fees and charges.
Casiño added, base on the recent reports of the Commission on Audit (COA), the government can fix the loss of P101 billion in the last years to corruption, inefficiencies and irregular expenses instead of increasing fees and charges.
“This (AO 31) should have been consulted first with the public and not just unilaterally been imposed,” Casiño said.
