A PEDICAB driver died after he was stabbed by an unidentified suspect while he was sleeping in his pedicab at Hilado Street, Barangay 22, Bacolod City around 2 a.m. on Friday.
Station 4 case investigator PO2 Rey Escanan identified the victim as Renante Claro Elisan, 37, a pedicab driver, native of Barangay Taloc, Bago City, Negros Occidental and temporarily staying at Purok Kawayanan, Barangay 22, Bacolod.
Escanan said Elisan sustained multiple stab wounds in different parts of his body.
Escanan said, before the incident, the victim had a drinking spree with a minor friend at the Bacolod Public Plaza. When the two returned to Hilado Street, Elisan fell asleep in his pedicab.
Escanan added some of the bystanders in the area claimed they heard the victim shouting for help.
The victim was immediately rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) but he was declared dead on arrival by his attending physician.
Escanan claimed Elisan was stabbed by his neighbor last month but they were settled at the station.
Escanan said they are still conducting further investigation to apprehend the suspect. (Merlinda A. Pedrosa)
