Rains fail to stop Masskara dance show

BACOLOD CITY – Students, parents and teachers brave the heavy downpour Saturday afternoon as the Masskara Street and Dance Competition School category proceeded as scheduled.
Eleven contingents from the elementary and secondary division participated Saturday’s dance competition. Last year’s champion in the elementary division also bagged this year’s top award.
Grand champion during Saturday’s dance competition is from Sum-ag Elementary School , who also bagged the best in concept award.
First runner up is from Banago Elementary School, second runner up and best in choreography is Montevista Elementary School, third runner up and best in costume is EL Jaime Elementary School and fourth runner up is Education Training Center Schools II.
A. Mabini Elementary School won the Best in Mask award.

In the high school division, Luisa Medel National High School is this year’s grand champion and Best in Concept and Choreography Award. First runner up and Best in Mask and Costume Award is Luis Hervias National High School. Second runner up goes to Teofilo Gensoli National High School and the third runner up is Domingo Lacson National High School.
Meanwhile, the Street and Dance Competition-Barangay Category is set Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Public Plaza. Fifteen contingents from the different barangays in the city will participate in the competition.

“Thanks Sun Star and Smart. At least this way we, mga Bacolodnons nga ari overseas, can be a part of the festival. It's rainy but still the show must go on. Greetings from Maryland!” says Adi from Maryland.
