VICE Governor Genaro Alvarez and son Mayor John Paul Alvarez of Ilog are set to personally appear before the Department of Justice (DOJ) at 2 p.m. Monday relative to the murder case filed against them for the slaying of Kabankalan Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judge Henry Arles.
Sixth district Representative Mercedes Alvarez said her father, Vice Governor Alvarez, was advised to personally affirm his counter-affidavit while his brother, Mayor Alvarez, will file his rejoinder in answer to the reply of the Arles family on his counter-affidavit.
She said she will still have to see the answers of the vice governor and mayor that were prepared by their lawyers.

Alvarez said the Arles case, which she said was based only on fabricated stories without basis, hurt them.
"But we are optimistic that, in the end, we will be vindicated and we will come out strong because the truth is on our side," the lady lawmaker said.
Representative Alvarez, meanwhile, celebrated her birthday last Saturday with San Juan Representative JV Estrada as one of her guests.
She said she was very happy with the surprise early morning birthday serenade offered to her by the teachers in the sixth district.
"I wish more blessings to share with for my constituents in the district," she said.
