VICE Governor Genaro Alvarez confirmed there is no truth to reports about moves to unseat Board Member Salvador Escalante as chairman of the Committee on Finance.
Alvarez said, when such report came out, Escalante immediately questioned him but he assured Escalante that the report was not true.
The vice governor said he also asked the colleagues of Escalante at the Provincial Board (PB) and they all denied that there is such a plan.
“I don't think that such reorganization would happen unless there is a very untoward circumstance,” Alvarez said.
Board members Patrick Lacson and Mae Javellana also confirmed there is no such move for a reorganization of the committee chairmanships at the PB.
“There were no plans whatsoever or even talks of reorganizing the committee chairmanships. Probably some political analysts were speculating. A lot of things are still left hanging in the council, but now that the idea came out, I'm personally looking at the bright side of it,” he said.
“It's not a bad idea for it may work as real check and balance. I took the example of the Obama administration a few years ago when the House of Congress was taken over by the republicans thus, if both sides are tempted to include political aspects of things, they always have to balance and find win-win solutions instead,” Lacson said.
