7K scouts attend One-Visayas Jamboree

ABOUT 6000 to 7000 scouts are now gathering in the province, as Negros Occidental hosts the One-Visayas Jamboree of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines at the Panaad Park and Stadium, a program coordinator said.
The jamboree is in cooperation of the Department of Education (DepEd).
According to program coordinator Van Derbie Arcenas, the scouts, came are from Western, Central, and Eastern Visayas, will stay in Patag, Silay City, Negros Occidental until October 30.
Arcenas said the jamboree promotes camaraderie among the scout participants where they will be trained in the basic survival and life-saving courses.
Provincial and local officials attended the opening ceremonies Friday. (Teresa D. Ellera)
