A COP was injured when his motorcycle collided with a tricycle at Phase 7, Barangay Handumanan, Bacolod City Thursday evening.
Traffic Management Unit case investigator PO2 Ben Tajonera identified the victim as PO2 Eugene Tamayo, 29, assigned at Police Station 10, and resident of Phase 6, Handumanan.
Investigation showed at 9:30 p.m., Tamayo was driving his Kawazaki Aura motorcycle on his way home coming from the house of his nephew when the accident happened, Tajonera said.
He said Tamayo tried to overtake the tricycle, driven by an unidentified driver, but lost control over his motorcycle because of an approaching trisikad.
He added Tamayo’s motorcycle hit the side mirror of the tricycle, causing him to fall down to the pavement. When the tricycle driver saw what happened, he fled and did not help the cop.
Tamayo, who was reportedly not wearing a helmet, sustained injuries in his head and was rushed to the Riverside Medical Center.
Tajonera said they are still conducting further investigation to identify the driver of the tricycle. (Merlinda A. Pedrosa)
