NBI asked to find source of 'sex scandal'

LAWYER Agnes Maranan, legal counsel of Representative Anthony Golez Jr., said they requested the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to find the source of the photo of Golez and Jewel Mae Lobaton allegedly kissing.
Maranan said they are working closely with the NBI to try to complete the investigation at the soonest possible time.
Maranan said they were informed that the pictures of Golez and Lobaton were sent to the media through email right after the filing of candidacy papers.
Golez, who is a member of the House Committee on Information and Communications Technology, says he saw the importance of protecting the public against cyber crimes, as he too was never spared from it.
The Cyber Crime Prevention Act of 2012 punishes the misuse of computer devices like dissemination of private personal matters with imprisonment of up to six years and a fine of P500,000.
Aside from the Cyber Crime Law, the NBI division on cyber crimes can enforce Republic Act 9995 or the Anti Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009.
A person who copies, reproduces, distributes, sends or broadcast in print, TV, internet, cellular phones or other similar devices obscene material will be punished with imprisonment of up to seven years and fine that can reach to P500,000.00.
Golez earlier said he will work closely with the NBI for the establishment of a facility or office for the said cyber crime division. (Carla N. Canet)
