PUJ driver robbed, killed-A A +A

A PUBLIC utility jeepney driver was killed after he was robbed by the son of his former co-worker, who is also a PUJ driver, at Bredco Port, Reclamation Area, Bacolod City Saturday evening.
Station 2 case investigator PO2 Christopher Profeta identified the victim as Ernesto Caminto, 40, of Georgina Subdivision, Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City.
Profeta said the victim was found lifeless with multiple stab wounds in different parts of his body inside his PUJ with route Mandalagan-Libertad and plate number FWN-862.
He said the neck of the victim was slashed and he had several stab wounds in different parts of his body. He was immediately rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital but he was declared dead on arrival.
Police recovered from the crime scene a wristwatch, a cellular phone and an improvised sheath knife.
Profeta said the wife of the victim stated that her husband's wallet, which contained an undetermined amount of money, driver's license and some important documents, was missing.
Profeta added that, in follow-up operation, they managed to identify and apprehend the suspect around 10:30 p.m. in his residence at Purok Pine Tree, Barangay Bata. The suspect was identified as Joven Valencia, 25.
Police recovered from him a kitchen knife measuring 13 inches.
Profeta said the suspect is the son of the former co-worker of the victim, who is also a PUJ driver plying the Mandalaga-Libertad route.
He said Valencia was also positively identified by the witness, a trisikad driver who said that he saw the suspect as the last person who boarded the PUJ of the victim at the Bredco Port, Reclamation Area.
The suspect is presently detained at the lock up cell of Station 2.
