GOVERNOR Alfredo Marañon Jr. confirmed Tuesday that the scholarship assistance provided by the Provincial Government will soon be released.
However, he said the release will be made through the Provincial Treasurer's Office (PTO).
“The funds come from the government coffers and not from our pockets. Therefore no politician will distribute them. The program should not be used for politics,” Marañon said.
Vice Governor Genaro Alvarez earlier queried about the non-release of the scholarship assistance by the Provincial Government.
“The first semester has already closed. How come that the scholarship assistance were not yet released?” Alvarez said.
Alvarez said he received such complaints from the scholars of Valladolid, and the Sixth District of the province.
The Provincial Government has 2,863 scholars, who are recommended by the local government units (LGUs), all over the province. Each scholar receives P2,500 every semester. (Teresa D. Ellera)
