ROBBERY with homicide charges were filed Tuesday before the City Prosecutor's Office against the suspect who killed a jeepney driver at Bredco Port, Reclamation Area, Bacolod City last Sunday.
Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Director Ricardo De la Paz said they have already filed charges against Joven Valencia, 25, and resident of Purok Pine Tree, Barangay Bata, Bacolod City.
Valencia was the suspect in the killing of Ernesto Caminto, 40, a public utility jeepney (PUJ) driver and resident of Georgina Subdivision, Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City. Valencia is a son of a former co-worker of the victim who sustained multiple stab wounds in different parts of his body. His neck was also slashed by the suspect.
Caminto was found dead in his jeepney. Police recovered from the crime scene a wristwatch, cellular phone, and an improvised sheath knife but the victim's wallet, which contained undetermined amount of money, driver's license and some important documents, was already missing.
De la Paz said the suspect was arrested in follow-up operation at Barangay Bata, and was identified by a witness as the last person who boarded the victim's jeepney at Bredco Port.
Earlier, the De la Paz sai revenge is one of the motives being eyed by the city police because the father of the suspect was dismissed from his job and the suspect probably blamed the victim that also triggered the killing of Caminto. (Merlinda A. Pedrosa)
