Comelec asked to hasten case resolution

NATIONALIST People's Coalition (NPC) mayoralty candidate Jude Thaddeus Sayson is asking the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to resolve the petition declaring his relative, Julius Sayson, as a nuisance candidate.
In his mailed request to the Comelec, he asks the commission to make an early decision on his petition as he noticed that most of those who filed the same petition have not received any information that the commission has acted on it.
He said he believes that he has a strong case vs. Julius Sayson considering that Julius already filed his certificate of withdrawal.
However, Julius’ withdrawal was not considered as valid by the Comelec because he did not file it personally.
Jude said if Julius is sincere in his candidacy, he should have not withdrawn from the race. And his non-appearance at the Cimelec hearing is another manifestation that he is no longer interested to run and this is a positive development for the Commission to decide in favor of him.
Jude wanted to make sure that the name of Julius Sayson would be taken out from the official ballot in the May 2013 polls.
Julius could no longer be located as he no longer resides at Barangay Granada. He filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) last October 5, 2012 but withdrew when he could no longer bear the toll of politics and family considering that he is running against a relative.
