THE Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) mayoralty bets in the 6th District area assured victory for gubernatorial bet Negros Occidental vice governor Genaro Alvarez Jr. and his running mate former San Carlos City mayor Eugenio Lacson in May elections.
The six NPC mayoralty bets in Cauayan, Hinoba-an, Ilog, Candoni, Kabankalan and Sipalay (Chicks) are incumbent mayors, three of whom are unopposed.
NPC provincial chairman Kabankalan City Mayor Isidro Zayco who is unopposed in his re-election bid, said he will do his best for the Alvarez-Lacson tandem in his locality, which has almost 80,000 voters.
Zayco and the other mayors in the Chicks area gathered last Wednesday during the turnover of command of the 47th Infantry Battallion based in Barangay Tiling, Cauayan.
Zayco said that in the last election, he won overwhelmingly, as only about 700 voters did not vote for him in Kabankalan City.
He said he will do his best to deliver the votes to the Alvarez-Lacson tandem.
Aside from Zayco, present at the turnover ceremonies were Mayor John Rey Tabujara of Cauayan and Hinoba-an mayor Teresita Bilbao, who are both unopposed, as well as Ilog Mayor Paul Alvarez and Jake Manzano of Candoni.
Sipalay City Mayor Oscar Montilla was represented by his sister Gina Montilla-Lizares.
Tabujara said there may not be a landslide victory for Alvarez and Lacson in Cauayan but he is sure the duo will win over their opponents.
The same was assured by Manzano, Alvarez and Bilbao.
On his part, Mayor Montilla of Sipalay also assured victory for Alvarez and Lacson in his city.
