THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Negros Occidental is now ready for the start of the election period on Sunday.
Lawyer Jessie Suarez, provincial Comelec supervisor, met with all Comelec officers in the province on Friday for its preparation for the May 13 polls.
The start of the campaign period for the local candidates will also start on March 29, while the campaign for senatorial candidates will begin on February 12.
Suarez also highlighted his meeting with the Comelec officers on the recall of all police personnel who are detailed as security escorts of politicians.
The security personnel will be replaced with blue guards or guards from licensed security agencies, he said.
A revamp of the election officers in the province is already expected but there is no specific order yet, according to Suarez.
He, meanwhile, reminded the policemen to be non-partisan in line with their duties and responsibilities for the coming May 13 polls.
