POLICE Superintendents Antonietto Cañete and Samuel Mina were named as Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Noppo) deputy provincial director for administration and operation, respectively.
The announcement was made following the recent reassignment of Police Superintendents Leo Erwin Agpangan and Remus Zacharias Canieso to the regional headquarters of the Philippine National Police at Camp Martin Delgado in Iloilo City.
Cañete and Mina are classmates in the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Class 1997, while Agpangan and Canieso are both members of the PNPA Class of 1989.
Both deputies will also supervise and monitor the conduct of Comelec checkpoints in the northern (with Mina as responsible officer) and southern (Canete) portions of the province.
In his first command conference attended by the 31 city and municipal police station chiefs in Negros Occidental Friday, Senior Superintendent Celestino Guara reminded the officers under his command to exert extra efforts in ensuring a peaceful and orderly conduct of the local and national polls in May of the current year.
Tackled during the said conference were Comelec Resolutions 9588 (guidelines on the establishment and operation of Comelec checkpoints) and 9561-A (rules and regulations on the gun ban) as well as the rules on the proper conduct of joint Comelec-PNP checkpoints in their respective areas of responsibility.
