Alvarez to colleagues: Avoid personal attack
-A A +AThursday, January 24, 2013
VICE Governor Genaro Alvarez asked his colleagues at the Provincial Government on Wednesday to avoid personal attacks against each other.
"They should have avoided those personal attacks. Either it's true or not, it's hurting for the parents," Alvarez said.
Alvarez made the reaction about the exchange of words last Tuesday between Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. and Board Member Patrick Lacson.
Reacting to an earlier statement by Lacson that the salary increase of Capitol workers can be made to retroact to January once Capitols’ 2013 budget is approved, Marañon said that Lacson’s talk was full of airs and that he should go back to Cebu for rehab.
Lacson branded Maranon's statement against him as a personal attack but said he forgives the governor, citing the biblical passage of turning the other cheek.
Meanwhile, SK Federation President Thea Dino incurred the highest number of absences among the members of the Provincial Board in 2012, while Serondo, Escalante and Rivera posted perfect attendance last year.
Based on PB record, Dino incurred 12 absences in the regular sessions from January to December 2012.
Ibañez had five absences, Yulo with four and Gitano with three.
Gustilo, Ko, Lacson and Zafra had two absences each while Zayco, Alonzo, Javellana and Vice Governor Genaro Alvarez had been absent only once in the entire year.
On the other hand, three Provincial Board members have unliquidated cash advances since 2006 which reached P132,000.
Based on Capitol's subsidiary ledger from January 1, 2006 to January 13, 2013, Javellana still has unliquidated cash advance pegged at P36,675 for her travel to Manila in March 5 to 7, 2007.
Javellana said she will look at the records and would personally settle her accounts.
Yulo has unliquidated cash advance amounting to P60,459 for his travel to Scotland to attend the Regional Conference of World Jurists Association on May 21 to 24, 2006, while Ibañez has unliquidated cash advance of P34,982 for his travel from 2007 to 2008.
