FORMER Las Piñas representative Cynthia Villar vowed support for the Sugarcane Act of Representative Albee Benitez (Third district, Negros Occidental).
Villar said she gives her all out support to the bill that would ensure the survival of the sugar industry where Negros mainly depends on.
The Sugarcane Bill authored by Benitez was approved with some amendments by the House Committee on Appropriation last Tuesday.
It is aimed at providing safety nets for the survival of the sugar industry when tariff on imported sugar would lower down up to zero percent by 2015.
"I want to see improved lives of our people. I assure that, if the Sugarcane Bill will be tackled when I become senator, I will push for it," Villar said.
