THE City Government of Bacolod may explore a sister city relationship with one of the cities in Indonesia, according to City Mayor Evelio R. Leonardia and City Administrator lawyer John N. Orola Jr.
Recently Immanuel Robert Inkiriwang, former Ambassador of Indonesia to Bulgaria and Romania, along with his wife Nonay, sister of Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson, visited the city Friday.
Inkiriwang said that there is a possibility of having a sister city relationship between Bacolod and a city in Indonesia.
"We have discussed the possibility of having a sister city relationship between Bacolod with one of the cities in Indonesia that really match," he said.
However, he said: "We will find out something that Bacolod does not have and we have in Indonesia or something that we don't have but you have here in Bacolod. That way, both cities can work very closely."
They can explore the areas of tourism, agriculture, economic cooperation, education and health, Inkiriwang added.
"We'll venture on these areas of cooperation. This is just an idea that I have shared with Mayor Leonardia and Atty. Orola," he said.
Leonardia, for his part, said that Indonesia is a strategic partner as it is one of the richest in human and natural resources in the world.
