Marañon dares Alvarez to media forum-A A +A

GOVERNOR Alfredo Marañon Jr. dared Vice Governor Genaro Alvarez, his opponent for the top post in the province this May election, to hold a media forum with him.
Marañon issued the challenge when asked for his reaction about the move of the Provincial Board (PB) to refer back Capitol’s proposed 2013 budget to the PB Finance Committee.
He said the PB will debate again about the budget after they referred it back to the committee.
The PB, during its regular session Wednesday last week, referred back to the committee the disapproved budget after its members were advised by the Regional Director of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) to enact a budget ordinance for the province.
In his earlier statement, Alvarez said the approval of the budget should be allowed to take its natural flow, referring to the regular session of the PB.
He said that, as the presiding officer, his role is just to break the tie during instances when there is a division of the house and that the passage of the budget would depend on the decision of the members of the PB.
