PROVINCIAL Health Officer Dr. Ernell Tumimbang confirmed that the blessing and inauguration of the P24 million blood center of the Provincial Government located in Barangay 39, Bacolod City is slated on February 8.
Tumimbang said the construction of the blood center is already completed and will be manned by six to seven personnel paid by the provincial government.
Expected to grace the occasion are Department of Health Secretary Enrique T. Ona Jr. and DOH Regional Director Ariel I. Valencia.
The center will be a model program of the DOH, as the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental is the first to establish such a facility in the country, Tumimbang said.
He said the center cannot operate in full-swing yet because of lack of the ideal number of personnel to man it and due to lack of some needed equipment.
Tumimbang said he hopes Ona can attend the inauguration which is very historical for the Negrenses.
The center will augment the center at the Corazon Locsin Memorial Provincial Hospital which has the existing blood bank to cater to the blood and laboratory needs of the people of the province.
