Army trooper nabbed for gun ban violation

A MEMBER of the 62nd Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army based in Sagay City, Negros Occidental was arrested by member of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Trackers Team in 888 Chinatown Square for violation of Comelec gun ban Friday afternoon.
BCPO officer-in-charge Senior Superintendent Edgardo Ordaniel identified the suspect as PFC Mark Abello, 26, assigned at 62nd IB, Sagay City and resident of Moises Padilla town, Negros Occidental.
Ordaniel said charges for violation of Comelec gun ban was already filed Saturday against the suspect.
He said Abello was arrested by Police Officer 3 Emmanuel Alonsagay, a member of Trackers Team, at about 4:30 pm Friday inside the 888 Chinatown Square Mall.
Ordaniel said while Alonsagay was roaming inside the said mall, he saw the suspect carrying a firearm and immediately arrested him.
Police recovered from him one unit of .45 caliber pistol with serial number 974502 with one magazine and seven pieces of live ammunitions.
Ordaniel said Abello also failed to present pertinent documents to carry the said firearm.
He said the suspect is presently detained at the lock up cell of Station 2.
