BACOLOD City Administrator John Orola led the Bacolod City Tourism Council in consulting the private sector and other agencies recently in preparation for a series of travel, trade and tourism activities in the city from March until June.
The officials met and discussed their participation in the Panaad Festival, the Independence Day celebration on June 12, the celebration of the signing of the Charter Day in Bacolod on June 19, and the birthday celebration of Dr. Jose Rizal on June 19.
The theme of the commemoration of the 75th Charter Day celebration will be the Diamond Anniversary of the signing of the Charter Day celebration in Bacolod City, said Orola, adding they are coming up with a series of pre June 18 activities.
Orola, chairman of the Western Visayas Tourism Council, said that aside from preparing their tourism promotional campaign, they are also preparing for the arrival of about 4,000 delegates for the motorcycle association national convention from April 4 to 6.
The group will hold their events at the Capitol Lagoon and other places in the Bacolod City, he said, adding that they are now checking the accommodation facilities of the cities, souvenir shops, restaurants, particularly the Manokan Country, since they are expecting many visitors to Bacolod this summer.
Orola said that on the first week of May, they are planning to hold a May Flower Festival and maritime festival at the Bacolod Baywalk where a fluvial parade will be participated in by the Philippine Coast Guard.
The Philippine Coast Guard also plans to hold a national CPR demonstration at the Baywalk in Bacolod and will come up with a massive entry to get into the Guinness Book of World Records, he added. (CNC)
