THE City Council of Bacolod has ratified the contract with Metrowaste Solidwaste Management that will handle the privatization of garbage collection in the city.
The ratification was done Tuesday.
Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia recently expressed hope that the garbage collection will start operating this March.
Leonardia said once the documents of Metrowaste reach his office, he will sign it barring new discoveries.
He would suppose that everything will be in order. Granting the flow takes its natural course and there will be no problem in their documents, the implementation will take effect soon.
He also would want the privatization to get implemented because of the banning due to the election.
Leonardia said he is confident that it was a good decision for the city to have the garbage collection handled by a private entity because of the government bureaucracy.
Metrowaste Solidwaste Management Corporation has projects in Antipolo, Caloocan and Makati City.
Metrowaste bidded to handle the hauling of garbage in the city.
Bacolod Permits and Licensing Division head Vicente Petierre III said Metrowaste offered the lowest calculated bid during the new bidding conducted by the Bid and Awards Committee for the garbage collection privatization.
Its bid offer was P71,879.461.71 out of the approved budget for the Contract of P72 million.
