THE Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) is now verifying information that four members of the Ozamis robbery group, who robbed the Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) of about P3.6 million last year, are in the city.
BCPO officer-in-charge Senior Superintendent Edgardo Ordaniel said Wednesday that he received information from a reliable source in Dumaguete last Tuesday that the four members of the group are in Bacolod City.
He said he already directed Intelligence Branch head Police Senior Inspector Jose Mulleta to verify the report, adding he informed Frank Carbon, president of the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI), to relay the information to members of the business group in the city.
Ordaniel said he also presented the pictures of the members of the Ozamis robbery group to different hotels and pension houses, so they can be easily identified if they check-in at the hotel or pension house in the city.
He also advised the hotel and pension house personnel to inform the nearest police station in case they encounter the said suspects.
Despite this intelligence report, Ordaniel said the business group should not be alarmed because the city police are also doing their best to preempt the group from committing any crime in the city.
He also reminded businessmen to be vigilant and to report to the nearest police stations if there are suspicious-looking persons within their business establishments.
He also urged businessmen to put up closed circuit television cameras in their business areas.
