2 killed, 1 hurt in Himamaylan grenade blast

TWO persons were killed while another was injured when their neighbor threw a hand grenade in Sitio Acapulco, Barangay Mahalang, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, Sunday evening.
Police Superintendent Simeon Gane Jr., chief of Himamaylan City Police, identified the fatalities as Jonathan Cebogero, 37, and his cousin Rannie Cebogero, 34. Injured was Jonathan’s brother Johnrey.
The victims were all residents of Sitio Acapulco, Barangay Mahalang. They were working in one of the beach resorts in Himamaylan City.
Gane said the victims were sitting in front of Johnrey’s house around 6:30 p.m. when their neighbor identified as alias Ronnie and his unidentified companion lobbed a hand grenade at the three and fled.
The police officer said Jonathan died on the spot while Rannie was rushed to a Himamaylan City hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Johnrey sustained minor injuries in different parts of his body.
Gane said the killing might be job-related. The police are also eyeing personal grudge as the motive behind the incident.
Police are conducting follow-up operation to apprehend the suspects.
