BCPO nabs 23 gun ban violators

SINCE the implementation of nationwide Commission on Election (Comelec) gun ban, 23 persons were arrested in Bacolod City, said City Police officer-in-charge Senior Supt. Edgardo Ordaniel on Wednesday.
Ordaniel said all the station commanders have intensified their implementation of Comelec gun ban through strict implementation of checkpoint operation and visibility patrol of BCPO in different areas of Bacolod that resulted to the apprehension of 23 violators.
He said the recent violator was the 19-year old suspect who was also involved in crime incidents in the city.
Ordaniel identified the suspect as Michael Reano, of St. Vincent, Barangay Alijis, Bacolod City who was arrested by operatives of Station 8 at Villa Lourdes, Barangay Pahanocoy, Bacolod City around 12:10 a.m. Wednesday.
He said the suspect was arrested for a theft complaint in Barangay Pahanocoy.
Police recovered from him a BMX bike and an improvised firearm or pin gun with two live ammunition.
Ordaniel said Reano was the 23rd person arrested for gun ban violation, adding that BCPO is now number one in Western Visayas in the number of apprehensions of gun ban violators. (MAP)
