BACOLOD City Mayor Evelio R. Leonardia has appealed for public cooperation and understanding as Metrowaste Solidwaste Management Corporation has just started the collection of garbage in the city.
Leonardia said “this is a new endeavor and anything that's new has its birth pains.”
He further said that his operation is massive and it needs the participation of everybody.
Atty. John N. Orola, Jr. said that Metrowaste personnel are still on the orientation and education stage.
The Department of Public Services headed by Nelson Sedillo is also assisting Metrowaste as to their system of collecting garbage.
Sammy Baal, Metrowaste operation manager, also said that they are coping with the problems, especially on the shipment of their dump trucks. He admitted renting 20 dump trucks because they only had four yellow hawk clip trucks for now.
Baal added that they also lack personnel and that they are still on the process of fixing things from personnel, dump trucks, system of hauling, schedules, among others.
They are asking for more time to regularize their operation. (CNC)
