Marañon says Mirasol backs his candidacy

Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. confirmed on Monday that Fifth District Rep. Alejandro Mirasol is backing his reelection bid.
"We were together in the last few days campaigning at the Fifth District," Marañon said, but he advised the members of the media to better ask Mirasol for confirmation about the matter.
The declaration of Marañon bolstered reports that, despite Mirasol's earlier declaration of support for Alvarez, the saying “blood is thicker than water” still holds strong because, after all, he still supports Marañon who is his uncle.
Mirasol's earlier statement of support for Alvarez is due to the fact that Third District Rep. Albee Benitez, provincial chair of LP, supports Alvarez over Marañon.
Both Benitez and Marañon helped Mirasol win the special election in the Fifth District in June, 2012 over his nephew Board Member Emilio Yulo III. A return bout looms between the uncle and his nephew in the district this May 13 elections.
Yulo's decision of putting up a return bout against his uncle Bebot is also bolstered by the backing of Alvarez who may have suspected the sincerity of Mirasol’s earlier statement of support.
Marañon said that, with the backing of Mirasol, he also expects to win in the district. (TDE)
