Plunder raps politically motivated - Leonardia, Sayson-A A +A
Tuesday, March 19, 2013
BACOLOD City Mayor Evelio R. Leonardia and Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson said the plunder cases hurled against them are mere propaganda cases which will not even hold water in the Ombudsman.
Both said the camps of MKK mayoralty candidates Monico Puentevella and Sarah Esguerra, and Victor Eduardo have used the Ombudsman as their propaganda tool.
These cases are malicious and politically motivated.
Leonardia said that the plunder case filed against them are retaliation cases of Puentevella who has faced a plunder case filed by PCSO chair Harry Angping and was supported by an audit report.
“Try to compare the plunder case filed against Puentevella and the plunder cases filed against us. Most of the cases they filed against us were dismissed, Leonardia said.
Puentevella's plunder case was a result of his questionable act when he deposited the P50 million plus to his personal account during the staging of the Southeast Asian Games which was organized by the BASOC in 2005.
“But one of the plunder cases they have filed against us was relative to the purchase of the Arao property which they appraised it at P15 per square meter which is unbelievable,” Sayson said.
Sayson said he cannot even remember that he has these cases because his detractors have made this as their own way of misleading the people.
Sayson said he is confident that these cases will not prosper because they are not serious. (CNC)
