GOVERNOR Alfredo Marañon Jr. saw a landslide victory for the reelection of Representative Jeffrey Ferrer in Negros Occidental’s fourth district over his challenger former board member Ike Barredo.
Marañon said Ferrer has performed well as congressman of the fourth district, and has numerous accomplishments and projects in the district for the past six years.
Ferrer is seeking reelection for his last term.
The governor also said that Ferrer has helped many people in the fourth district and that he has not even heard issues against the congressman.
Ferrer, who is also a former member of the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC), is a known ally of Marañon in the United Negros Alliance (UNA).
He has been stripped by the NPC of the party's Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance because of his alliance with Marañon.
Barredo, who is an independent candidate, has been publicly declaring that his candidacy is being backed by NPC, especially by NPC chairman emeritus Eduardo Cojuangco.
