LIGHTED streets is one factor that can deter the commission of crimes, thus the City Government of Bacolod will soon implement its biggest street lighting project, said Bacolod City Mayor Evelio R. Leonardia.
This is among the thrusts of the city in improving the peace and order situation in the city.
The project, which costs P28,662,000, will be implemented by the City Engineer's Office under newly promoted City Engineer Belly Aguillon.
Leonardia said that the implementation will be done soon or before the banning period of the coming May 13 elections.
The P5 million of the more than P28 million budget came from senatorial candidate JV Ejercito as part of the sisterhood agreement between Bacolod City and San Juan City.
JV was able to source this fund from Senator Juan Ponce Enrile, both of whom have expressed willingness to help Bacolod in this project.
Leonardia said that they will experiment in using LED lights so that the city can save on energy consumption. (CNC)
